This photograph is sort of an homage to Ansel Adams who continues to be a big influence on my work. I was exploring photographic opportunities near the Sierra Nevada Mountains area in California and decided to try to find the exact spot where Ansel Adams made his famous photograph of Mount Williamson.
I often wonder what it feels like to be at various places that masters such as Adams made iconic photographs at. It’s not a very easy spot to find but I eventually found it. There was no one around for miles and the air was very still. Perfectly quiet. I stayed there while to take in the view and watched the clouds and sunlight poking through until everything was “just right” before I clicked the shutter and made this photograph. I like this very much and think Adams spirit was with me as I pressed the shutter that morning.
